A Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday that China detected, identified and monitored two American B-52 military aircrafts that flew to the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone between 11 and 13.22 a.m., November 26, Beijing time.
According to the ministry's spokesman Geng Yansheng, the U.S. aircraft skirted along the border of the zone and flew in the north-south direction, 200 kilometers east of Diaoyu Island.
He stressed that China has the right to identify, monitor, control and react to any flying objects in the zone, based on the rules for the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone issued earlier.
Earlier , U.S. officials said that two B-52 bombers flew to the identification zone on the night of November 25, 2013, Washington D. C. time, according to media reports.
