DENVER (AP) - Denver police have surrounded a middle school after learning that two armed men had entered the empty building.
Authorities told KMGH-TV that janitors reported a break-in Monday night. Police said early Tuesday that a bomb squad was called to Noel Middle School after officers saw that the two men were carrying backpacks.
Denver Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Warneke says police don't believe the nearby community is in danger. However, a telephone notification has been sent to neighborhood residents warning them to stay indoors.
Police say they are using the school's public address system to try to communicate with the men.
