The California Lottery today identified the winner as Steve Tran.
California Lottery spokesman Russ Lopez confirmed a man stepped forward with the winning ticket purchased at a San Jose shop.
Lopez said a winner came in to the Sacramento office at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday claiming the Mega Million shared jackpot. If the winner cashes out in one lump sum, he will receive $173 million, before taxes.
