Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest University's sports department says there will be a football-related news conference at 4:15 p.m.


WFMY News 2 has seen multiple reports that head coach Jim Grobe is stepping down after 13 seasons.


Wake Forest University football player, Michael Campanaro, tweeted 'Wow. Coach Grobe Steppin Down!!' Another player, AJ Marshall, tweeted 'Thank you for everything @WF_Grobie I'm greatly appreciative to have fought for you for these past 4 years.. Love you coach..'


news3blog.blogspot.com and ESPN are also reporting that Grobe is expected to step down at the news conference.


WFMY News 2 will stream the conference live on digtriad.com.

Grobe's overall record at WFU is 77-81; the team was 4-8 in 2013. He is tied with 'Peahead' Walker, who coached from 1937-1950, for the most wins in school history.


Grobe led the team to four bowl games and a 2006 ACC Championship. During the 90s, WFU football only won 38 games.
