Doe B., an up-and-coming rapper, was fatally wounded early Sunday following a wild shoot-out at a popular nightspot in Montgomery, Ala., the Associated Press reports. Another person also was slain in the shooting, and six others were wounded, the report shows.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. at Centennial Hill Bar & Grill, about a half-mile north of Alabama State University, the report shows.

Besides Doe B., whose birth namen was Glenn Thomas, police identified another victim as Kimberle Johnson, 21. Both victims were from Montgomery. Doe B. was taken to Baptist Medical Center South, where he was later pronounced dead, the AP reports.

The rapper's manager, DJ Frank White of Montgomery, said he wasn't performing at the time of the incident. Doe B. was the father of two young children and was expecting a third, the AP reports. In a statement released to HipHopDX, White asked fans to remember the artist through his music, not his death.

'Doe B was an amazing young man, in every sense of the word,' the statement reads. 'A truly talented artist, a loving father and a dedicated member of the Hip Hop community at large, he touched the lives of the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.
