The honor of dropping this year's New Year's ball will go to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
The New York Times reports that Sotomayor will return to her home state of New York to hit the crystal button 60-seconds before midnight, before an estimated crowd of one million revelers.
One notable no-show will be outgoing mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has opted out of the celebration for the first time in 11 years to spend a quieter evening with friends and family.
