A bank robbery suspect on the run after fatally shooting one policeman and wounding another in Mississippi earlier this week has been connected to an earlier robbery that same day in Georgia, the FBI said on Saturday.

The FBI is offering up to $100,000 for information leading to the capture of the unidentified suspect, who is considered 'armed and extremely dangerous,' the bureau's Atlanta field office said in a statement.

The reward is in addition to $100,000 also being offered from various business community leaders in Mississippi.

'This person is very dangerous, we have every reason to believe this person will continue on their deadly path,' Special Agent in Charge Daniel McMullen of the FBI's Jackson, Miss. division told NBC News on Saturday. 'It is urgent that we locate and arrest this person.'

McMullen stressed that the public should contact law enforcement if they believe they have encountered man but should avoid taking other action due to the dangerous nature of the suspect.

On Monday, the suspect was involved in a fatal bank robbery in Tupelo, Miss. that culminated in an 'ambush style shooting' of two Tupelo Police Officers and the culprit's escape, according to the FBI.

Officer Gale Stauffer, 38, died at about 3:45 p.m. on Monday after being shot at close range. Stauffer was married with two young children and had joined the force in 2005, officials said. The other officer was critically wounded.

Now the FBI believes that same man is responsible for a robbery in Atlanta, Ga. At around 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Officials said a lone male, armed with a semi-automatic handgun and donning a black ski mask, entered a Bank of America in Atlanta and unsuccessfully demanded money from a bank teller.

The suspect then accosted a customer at an ATM machine in the vestibule of the bank, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, the FBI said. He then fled the scene in a light grey vehicle, possibly a Chrysler 200, with no license plate displayed.

'The working theory would be that he went from Atlanta across state lines into the Mississippi area,' McMullen said.

Referring to early, conflicting reports that multiple robbers were involved in the Tupelo incident, McMullen said he would not want 'to limit the possibility that this person was assisted' but added that the FBI's focus was on locating the individual determined to be involved in both cases.

The FBI described the robber as a light skinned male, race undetermined, wearing a black ski mask, grey and white-striped, long sleeve shirt, black gloves, light or grey tennis shoes (possibly Chuck Taylor Converse shoes), and a black semi-automatic handgun, possibly a .45-caliber Sig Sauer.
