Excerpts from PM designate Modi's speech in Central Hall of Parliament.

No 'kripa' 'Advaniji said that I have done the BJP a kripa (favour). Like India, BJP too is my mother. Can serving the mother be kripa? Not at all. A son is only dedicated to serving the mother.'

Maiden entry 'First time I have entered the Central Hall of Parliament... had seen the CM's office and a state assembly for the first time after being made Gujarat CM in 2001. '

Previous governments 'Various governments tried to do some good work in their own way for which they deserve appreciation. Whatever good has happened, we will carry it forward.'

Atal Bihari Vajpayee 'Had Vajpayee ji been well, his presence would have been sone par suhaga (icing on the cake).'

Optimism 'I don't know what pessimism is. I am optimistic. Only an optimist can generate hope in the country. The countrymen will have to leave this pessimism. If the 125 crore people of the country take a step forward each, the country will move forward by 125 crore steps.'

Hope for poor 'A new hope has arisen in the common man. This is the biggest significance of this election results. At the end of the day, who is the government for? It is for the poor. The new government will dedicate itself to the poor, crores and crores of youth and the security of mothers and sisters, those in the rural areas, the oppressed and the deprived.'

Trust 'If it had been a hung or a fractured verdict, one could have said people had vented their anger against the government and that it was anti-establishment. But by giving BJP an absolute majority, they have voted for hope and trust... and I will do everything to fulfil their aspirations.'
