Four people received non-life threatening injuries Sunday afternoon on a three vehicle collision in a tunnel on Highway 26 west of Manning. Oregon State Police (OSP) investigation led to one of the involved drivers facing charges.

On May 25, 2014 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 1990 Toyota Camry driven by Daniel Calhon, age 19, from Snohomish, Washington was traveling westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 40 entering a tunnel. CALHON said he held his breath as he drove into the tunnel and fainted, causing his car to cross the centerline. The Toyota collided head-on with an eastbound 2013 Ford Explorer. Both vehicles then collided into the interior tunnel walls before a third vehicle, a 1999 GMC pickup, collided with the Toyota Camry.

Calhon and his passenger and the driver and passenger in the Explorer had non-life threatening injuries.

Calhon was cited to appear in Washington County Circuit Court for Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person (3 counts), and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Trooper Will Brindza is the lead investigator.
