Two people, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed in North Philadelphia Friday morning after two men carjacked a vehicle and drove it into a crowd while fleeing the scene, police said.
The incident occurred on the corner of Germantown and Allegheny Avenues at 11:22 a.m., police said. Two men carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint, and while driving away, struck several pedestrians.
A 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead on the scene, police said, and another person was pronounced dead at Temple Hospital. Five others were taken to Temple in critical condition, police said.
The suspects in the carjacking are still at large, police said. The first was described as a black man armed with a gun wearing a white T-shirt and basketball shorts. Police described the second as a Hispanic man wearing an orange shirt and basketball shorts. Police offered no immediate description of the vehicle.
