Pope Francis is coming to America next year, Philadelphia archbishop confirms

Pope Francis is coming to America - and quite possibly, to New York.

Philadephia's Archbishop Charles Chaput confirmed that the pontiff has officially accepted an invitation to head the World Meeting of Families next year.

'Pope Francis has told me that he is coming,' Chaput said during a Thursday mass in Fargo, N.D., according to the National Catholic Reporter.

The meeting will be held in Philadelphia from Sept. 22 - Sept. 27, 2015.

But Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said that the Pope is mulling over invitations to other places as well - including New York, the United Nations and Washington.
