A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized after falling down an elevator shaft at Fenway Park Friday during a Red Sox game, according to the Boston Fire Department.
The woman fell on to the roof of the elevator at the second floor when the shaft's fourth-floor doors mistakenly opened, the department tweeted. The elevator's power was immediately shut off to prevent movement.
Firefighters were able to rescue the woman through a hatch in the elevator's roof. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. A state elevator inspector was called to the scene to investigate.
