LA mother detained in deaths of her 3 young kids

Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating the deaths of three children at a home near Carson, Calif. and have taken their mother into custody, CBS Los Angeles reports.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson told the station that three girls, aged 3 years, 2 years and 2 months, were found dead in the home Tuesday evening.

The department said a rescue call was made from the home at approximately 5:10 p.m.

Deputies were met by family members who said a mother had killed her children, CBS Los Angeles says, adding that the deputies found the victims and their mother in the home.

She was immediately detained and taken to a local hospital for examination. She was subsequently transported to the Carson Sheriff's Station, where she was expected to be booked on murder charges.
