Police: No evidence of shooting on 71 Highway

There is no evidence that a highway shooting occurred on 71 Highway at 59th Street on Wednesday afternoon, Kansas City police said on Thursday afternoon.


A driver said one of their vehicle's windows was shot out while driving on 71 Highway near 59th Street on Wednesday afternoon.


'After last night's investigation the detectives are doubting whether the vehicle was actually shot or if something else may have occurred to break the window,' police spokesman Tye Grant said. 'As of right now there is no evidence of a shooting.


Police said on Wednesday that more than 100 tips have come in about the recent pattern of shootings on Kansas City-area highways. The case involving 12 linked incidents from Kansas City, Mo., Blue Springs, Lee's Summit and Leawood, Kan., remains unsolved.


Three people have been hit by bullets, but none have had life-threatening injuries.
