Chelsea Clinton announces she's pregnant

Bill and Hillary Clinton are about to add a new title to their impressive resumes: grandparents.


Chelsea Clinton revealed Thursday that she's pregnant with her first child.


The 34-year-old Clinton made the surprise announcement at an event in the Lower East Side that she was hosting with her mother, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.


Marc and I are so thrilled to be expecting our first child in the fall! Thank you for all of the kind words!

'I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,' Chelsea Clinton said, according to the Washington Post.


Hillary Clinton said she was 'really excited' to welcome her first granddaughter, the Post reported.

Chelsea's husband, Marc Mezvinsky, was reportedly looking on from the back of the Lower Eastside Girls Club when his famous wife broke the news.


Former President Clinton said in a Twitter post that he couldn't wait to be a granddad.


My most exciting title yet: Grandmother-To-Be! @billclinton and I are thrilled that Chelsea and Marc are expecting their first child!

'Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio...grandfather-to-be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!' he wrote.


Chelsea's announcement triggered waves of well wishes from Clinton fans and other political scions.

'Welcome to the best club in the world. Mamahood is wonderful. Xx'


Chelsea Clinton later confirmed the news on her Twitter feed.


'Marc and I are so thrilled to be expecting our first child in the fall! Thank you for all of the kind words!' she wrote.
