Craigslist Killers Plead Guilty To Second

(Photo : Reuters) Miranda Barbour, 19, and her husband, Elyette Barbour, 22, evaded the death penalty through their agreement with the prosecutors to plead guilty to the November 11, 2013 stabbing of Troy LaFerrara.


A self-confessed serial killer and her husband gave a guilty plea on Tuesday morning to the second-degree murder charge in connection with the fatal stabbing of a stranger they met on Craigslist. The pre-trial hearing, which was held in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, marked the beginning of what is predicted to be a high-profile case involving confessions of cult-related murders and deplorable sexual encounters. Prior to this plea, the couple was set to be tried for first-degree murder. Both suspects will are scheduled for sentencing on September 18.

Miranda Barbour, 19, and her husband, Elyette Barbour, 22, evaded the death penalty through their agreement with the prosecutors to plead guilty to the November 11, 2013 stabbing of Troy LaFerrara. Records reveal that the couple got in touch with the victim through an ad in Craigslist. Based on their confession, they used a 'companionship' ad to entice the deceased to agree to a meet up. In addition the murder charge, the couple also pleaded guilty to committing aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime, and robbery.


In an interview with the prosecutors, the couple disclosed that Miranda arranged to pick up LaFerrara at a shopping mall while Elyette hid in the back seat covered with a blanket. According to Elyette, he waited for his wife to give him the go signal before strangling LaFerrara using a cord while she stabbed the victim to death.


Prosecutors said that the couple admitted to planning the murder in celebration of three-week anniversary. Both confessed to their desire to kill someone together to commemorate their special day. They then proceeded to spend the rest of the day in a strip club to celebrate Elyette's 22 nd birthday.


In an earlier confession held on Valentine's Day this year, Miranda told investigators that she killed roughly 22 other people over the past six years. She claimed that her actions were heavily influenced by her involvement in a satanic cult. In addition, she explained that her murderous alter ego, 'Super Miranda', took over when she killed all those people. She also kept a favorite knife, which had not


LaFerrara, 42, of Port Trevorton, Pa worked as an engineer at a local landfill. He has been married for two years with his high school sweetheart when he responded to Miranda's Craigslist 'companionship' ad in exchange for money. Investigators divulged that LaFerrara was still 'choking and gasping for air' when the couple dumped his body.
