A US Marshal shot a defendant in a Utah courtroom Monday after that defendant attacked a witness, according to multiple media reports.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the US Attorney's Office said the case that was happening at the time was gang related.
According to the Tribune, an FBI official said the defendant attacked the witness with a writing utencil, which prompted the US Marshall to shoot the man multiple times in the chest.
