A photo circulating Twitter claims a Ghostbusters sign was raised in front of a New York City firehouse as a tribute to Harold Ramis, who starred in the 1984 movie and died Monday at 69.

It turns out this is an old photo and there is no Ghostbusters sign currently in front of the Hook and Ladder 8 firehouse, said Frank Dwyer, spokesman for the New York City Fire Department, in an interview with USA TODAY Network.

Exteriors of the firehouse were used in both the original movie and the 1989 sequel, Dwyer said.

Dwyer said he does not know the source of the photo but it did not come from the fire department.

Although the FDNY has not put up any memorial to Ramis in front of the firehouse, some fans left flowers, candles and even a Twinkie in front of the fire station, reports WPIX11 in New York City.

In addition to Ghostbusters, Ramis starred in Caddyshack, Stripes and the original National Lampoon's Vacation.
