A California dad watched in horror as his wife and four young children were killed in a devastating SUV smash.
The father was helpless as his family's 2003 Ford Expedition was hit by a 2004 Nissan Quest minivan at an intersection in Fresno County 7 p.m. Saturday.
A quarter mile behind, he could only look on as the vehicle burst into flames.
He arrived at the scene and broke windows in a desperate bid to rescue his relatives. But his 29-year-old wife - Esmeralda Saucedo - and four children - 11-year-old Breanna, 6-year-old Jada, 3-year-old Nikko and 1-year-old Isaac - all died, reports ABC 30.
Family members identitied the victims, hailed from the small town of Riverdale.
The minivan's driver has been named as 41-year-old Juana Martinez Bejarano, who was hospitalized with major injuries.

California Highway Patrol Officer Axel Reyes told KCRA that an investigation has now been launched into the crash and the subsequent blaze.
He revealed that neither speed, drugs or alcohol were being considered as factors in the accident, but that officers were looking into claims Bejarano was on medication.
'You almost couldn't have timed it any better, the two front corners' of the vehicles struck at the worst angle - right near the engine blocks - likely leading to the fire, Reyes said.

Fresno County Coroner Dr. David Hadden said autopsies would be carried out Sunday morning.
He also revealed that the couple was in two different cars because they were on their way to pick up another child, however it was not known if youngster was a relative. The family was reportedly on their way to a restaurant to celebrate Isaac's second birthday.
