Bono, lead singer of the band U2, will undergo surgery after he injured his arm in a cycling accident in New York's Central Park, the band said Sunday.
No details of the accident were provided in a brief three-sentence statement issued Sunday night by the band's three other members. 'We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back!' the band said, adding an apology for having to postpone the band's appearances this week on NBC's 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
The announcement came only four days after Bono, 54 - real name Paul Hewson - and four friends got a scare when the luggage-compartment door fell off his Learjet as they were flying 15,000 feet over Germany. 'You know, there may be a few cows or sheep in the German countryside with a very sore head,' Bono said Thursday. 'We trust that nobody was hurt, because we would have heard by now, and that was actually our first concern, 'cause we were fine.'
