As expected, a group of NBA owners agreed to move forward with the process of removing Donald Sterling as owner of the L.A. Clippers.

On a conference call Thursday, the 10 owners who make up the NBA Advisory/Finance Committe discussed Sterling's fate.

'This afternoon the Advisory/Finance Committee met via conference call to discuss the process for termination of Donald T. Sterling's ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Committee unanimously agreed to move forward as expeditiously as possible and will reconvene next week.'

The call and decision to move forward was the first official step in the process since NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday that Sterling - who was caught on tape making racist comments to his ex-girlfriend - was banned for life and would be forced to sell the team he has owned since the early 80s.

Members of the owners' advisory and finance committee include Minnesota owner Glen Taylor, who chairs the committee, Miami's Micky Arison, the Lakers' Jeanie Buss, Oklahoma City's Clay Bennett, New York's James Dolan, Boston's Wyc Grousbeck, San Antonio's Peter Holt, Phoenix's Robert Sarver, Indiana's Herb Simon, and Toronto's Larry Tanenbaum.

The Daily News quoted a source Thursday saying Sterling would sue to league if we were forced to sell his team.

The league will need 75% of the owners to vote against Sterling in order for him to be forced to sell the team.

On Thursday, Sacramento Kings over Vivek Ranadive said he 'would be surprised if this was not a unanimous vote.'

The Clippers were set to play Game 6 of their first round series Thursday night against Golden State.
