Prosecutors from Massachusetts are planning to ask a judge to keep Lewis locked up while he is awaiting his trial. The man is suspected of raping women in various states in the U.S.

Officials stated that Gregory Lewis, 26, from Southbridge cut his electronic monitoring device that was court-ordered after Lewis was charged of raping a 13-year-old girl and ran away from Massachusetts. He cut off the ankle bracelet and tossed it on the victim's front lawn. Last month, Gregory was arrested in New York after what authorities said was a crime spree across the whole country.

He was charged with 17 cases of rape and an attack on his own step-father. Lewis was held without bail last week and pleaded not guilty on charges of indecent exposure, receiving stolen property, indecent assault and rape.

Spokesperson for the office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., Tim Connolly said Lewis is also facing charges of battery and assault against an elderly man, armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping, larceny and intimidation.

Prosecutors were expected to state that Lewis should continue to remain in jail as he is a danger to the general public in a hearing scheduled Monday in Worcester Superior Court. Should the judge find Lewis to be a danger to the community, he will be put back in jail for 90 day period without an option of bail awaiting the process to be repeated.

Lewis is a suspect for kidnapping, raping and robbing females across the U.S. in North Carolina, Utah, Indiana, Missouri, Oregon and Colorado. The state police from Massachusetts said Lewis spoke to different people telling them his target is to go back to Massachusetts and kill the 13-year-old girl that accused him.

After making a run for it from a traffic stop, Lewis drove into the Hudson River. A man trying to help Lewis was threatened by him with a gun. Gregory Lewis was arrested in Fort Edward in New York by a sheriff's deputy who tracked down the man with the help of his dog after the incident.

In a questioning with the police from Southbridge, Lewis did not admit to having any sexual relations with the 13-year-old girl. He said he met the girl in June after she and her friends prank called him.
