Retired General David Petraeus has given an apparent thumbs up to the possible candidacy of Hillary Clinton.
In the soon-to-be released book HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, Petraeus is quoted as saying that the former Secretary of State would be 'a tremendous President.'
The former CIA Director even referenced the Benghazi attacks, saying Clinton's behavior in the aftermath was 'extraordinarily resolute, determined, and controlled.' The attacks will likely be a major conservative talking point against Clinton if the former Secretary opts to run.
Petraeus, who commanded U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan before becoming CIA Director, was rumored to be a potential 2016 contender himself before an adultery scandal tarnished his public image.
The Petraeus quotes were originally reported by ABC News.
