A woman in her 60s became an 'unfortunate victim'' when shots were fired and she was grazed on the top of the head as she walked up to her porch this afternoon on the Far South Side.
It happened at 2:35 p.m. in the 13100 block of South Forrestville Avenue, in the city's Golden Gate neighborhood, police said.
The woman was walking up the steps to her porch after parking her car when she heard shots fired, according to a Calumet District police lieutenant.
'At the top of the stairs, she felt something on the top of her head,''' the lieutenant said.
She 'self transported'' to Roseland Hospital, but it was unclear who drove. Her condition has stabilized, said Police News Affairs Officer Stacey Cooper, who said she suffered a graze wound as she tried to flee into her home.
'She was not the intended target,'' the lieutenant said, adding she was an 'unfortunate victim.''
No arrests have been made and there was no description of the shooter available.
